Artists and/or curators are responsible for the transportation or shipping of all artwork to and from the Chesapeake Gallery. There is a $10.00 application fee but no commission on sold work. The Howard County Arts Council, located in Howard County, Maryland, is seeking up to 12 artists to participate in its 5th Annual Juried Public Art Competition for a temporary outdoor exhibit from August 2016-July 2017. HCAC will provide up to 12 artists with a $2,500 grant to cover the temporary loan, insurance, installation, de-installation, and repairs to selected sculpture. The competition is open to professional visual artists, aged 18 & older, with public art experience commensurate with this project’s scope. Visit to download  prospectus.

VisArts invites applications from local, national, and international artists for a four month residency in one of our beautiful studios in the center of downtown Rockville, MD. Conveniently located 18 miles outside of D.C., with easy Metro access, the residency provides a unique opportunity for a dynamic individual artist or artist team to create a new body of work, evolve an existing body of work or develop a project in a stimulating, supportive environment. The current call is for artists or artist teams whose primary residency practice will be painting and/or drawing.

Studio space is provided free of charge. Interaction, dialogue and exploration both within the VisArts artist community and the larger Rockville community is encouraged. Resident Artists will present their work in a 3 person exhibition at VisArts.
