I n 2015, CCCD launched a new program series titled Back to the Drawing Board, that invited six artists take over Benchspace Gallery & Workshop to create interactive installations, performances, and other experimental activities.
This year, CCCD is pleased to continue Back to the Drawing Board as a feature program of it’s 20th Anniversary celebration to be held on August 11, 2016. Three selected projects will be staged throughout CCCD’s three-story building at 67 Broadway in downtown Asheville, North Carolina.
Artists, makers, designers and performers of all disciplines are welcome to propose a project plan. Preference will be given to new projects not yet presented in public, with an emphasis on process and audience collaboration. Works in progress are welcome, with the intention of exposing the public to the, often unseen, creative process. Ideas that will engage the public in a critical dialogue are encouraged.

MUX: Asheville is accepting submissions of video work from national and international applicants for exhibition, Summer 2016, in Asheville, North Carolina. The call for entry accepts single and multi-channel digital video art works, collaborative works, serial works (dependent on total run time), performance for camera, and video installation or sculptural video work (these will be managed as individual cases and will depend on the resources/capabilities of the artist and the exhibition space).

(Art and Art History) – The Department of Art and Art History at the University of North Carolina at Asheville is seeking a one-semester lecturer. Areas of specialization: painting/drawing and 2D Foundations. Responsibilities: Teach three undergraduate courses spring semester 2016 (12 contact hours). Related duties include keeping regular office hours, studio facility management, and attending departmental meetings and events. Qualifications: MFA and teaching experience at a collegiate level required. Ability to teach beginning and intermediate oil painting and drawing courses as well as 2D foundations. Digital experience in 2D foundations is a plus.

Call for Art: 7th Annual Drawing Discourse Exhibition – University of North Carolina Asheville

As part of an ongoing commitment to promote drawing practices in the visual arts, the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNC Asheville) invites artists to submit entries to an International juried exhibition of contemporary drawing. UNC Asheville seeks to examine drawing as it is practiced and defined by today’s artists. Such an exhibition will demonstrate the continued significance of drawing through both conventional and innovative methods. Accepted work will be exhibited in UNC Asheville’s S. Tucker Cooke Gallery from Jan. 15, 2016 through Feb. 12, 2016.
Esteemed juror, Edgar Jerins, will be present and open the exhibition with a lecture about his practice on January 15, 2016; Drawing Discourse opening reception immediately following.

A full color catalogue of the exhibition will be printed. $1000 in cash prizes
