The Decatur Arts Alliance (DAA) presents the fourth edition of the juried exhibition of artists’ books, The Book as Art, August 19–September 30, 2016. This edition will appear for the first time at Decatur Branch of the DeKalb County Library. The show’s dates, from August 19 – September 30, 2016, encompass the AJC-Decatur Book Festival dates of September 2–4, 2016, which takes place each Labor Day weekend throughout the City of Decatur. The DAA will sponsor a festive opening on Friday, August 26, 2016.

I n 2015, CCCD launched a new program series titled Back to the Drawing Board
, that invited six artists take over Benchspace Gallery & Workshop to create interactive installations, performances, and other experimental activities.
This year, CCCD is pleased to continue Back to the Drawing Board
as a feature program of it’s 20th Anniversary celebration
to be held on August 11, 2016. Three selected projects will be staged throughout CCCD’s three-story building at 67 Broadway in downtown Asheville, North Carolina.
Artists, makers, designers and performers of all disciplines are welcome to propose a project plan. Preference will be given to new projects not yet presented in public, with an emphasis on process and audience collaboration. Works in progress are welcome, with the intention of exposing the public to the, often unseen, creative process. Ideas that will engage the public in a critical dialogue are encouraged.
Each takeover will occur from 7-10 pm, Thursday August 11, 2016. Accepted applicants will receive a $1,000 stipend for materials and travel expenses.
Call for Art: Antenna, New Orleans, Louisiana
Individual Visual Artists or Collaboratives working in any media are encouraged to apply to the Antenna: Open Call. One applicant working outside of Louisiana will be selected and awarded a solo show for the 2017 calendar year, given an honorarium of $1,000 (split amongst the group, if collaborative) paid shipping, paid travel to and from New Orleans for the install and opening of the exhibition, accommodations in Antenna’s residency space, and access to Antenna’s print facilities to publish an exhibition catalog or other similar ephemera to be determined by the artists.

Call for Art: 2016 Annual Juried Art Competition, South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado Arkansas.

$2000 in cash prizes. Juror: Alejo Benedetti from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Founded by the Walton Family Foundation, Crystal Bridges’ permanent collection spans five centuries of American masterworks ranging from the Colonial era to the current day. The permanent collection, which continues to grow through a strategic acquisition plan, is on view year-round along with an array of temporary exhibitions. Eligibility: The exhibit is open to all 2D or 3D art, all styles and media are welcome; traditional and alternate media, as well as innovative and experimental approaches accepted. Open to US artist with artwork completed in the last five years.
Call for Art: 1708 Gallery, Richmond, VA

1708 Gallery invites US-based and international artists, and curators, to submit proposals for the 2017 and 2018 exhibition seasons. Students with an anticipated graduation date of May 2016 are eligible to apply for exhibitions in 2017, and graduates in May 2017 for exhibitions in 2018. 1708 Gallery strongly encourages proposals for developing projects and bodies of work. In addition to proposals for exhibitions in the 1708 Gallery space, public works and other non-gallery based projects will be considered.
Selected proposals will be given an exhibition period of approximately six weeks, a $1000 honorarium, and shipping, travel, installation and exhibition support.
