The Galveston Artist Residency is pleased to announce an Open Call for applications for the 2016 – 2017 Residency Year. We will be awarding 3 residency grants for the time period of September 1, 2016 through August 1, 2017. Residencies are for the full 11 months.
GAR is a fully funded residency. Artists in residence will receive a studio, an apartment, a monthly stipend of $1,000 per month and a bicycle.

In the spirit of nurturing creative research, development, and action, The Goat Farm Arts Center and The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences and have joined forces again to proudly present an unconventional public action project in Atlanta. FIELD EXPERIMENT 2016 aims to bring groundbreaking work to the surface with the following support: $20,000 commission, a residency, and collaborative production assistance to realize a prodigious vision for Atlanta. Priority will be given to work that is interactive, collaborative, and accessible to the public. We invite artists, scientists, architects, performers, and visionaries to work individually or collectively to create new paths for our city.

The Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program was established in 1991. The program provides early career, self-directed artists time, space and support to experiment and develop a new body of work in a creative supportive community environment of 160 rotating visiting workshop artists/instructors and hundreds of students. The program encourages early career artists who embrace community and enjoy working in a team environment to apply.
Call for Art: 2nd Annual Savannah GIF Festival, Art Rise Savannah, Savannah, GA
Art Rise Savannah is looking for the world’s top GIF animations to be featured in one of the largest exhibitions of this particular filetype in the world. The 2nd Annual Savannah GIF Festival will feature multiple categories as well as live music to accompany the silent animations during the inaugural screening. Artists interested in having their animations featured in the upcoming festival can find our submission page at giffest.xyz. Submissions are completely free and there is no limit to the number of animations that can be submitted. Also on our website is a video preview of last years festival.
GIF, or Graphics Interchange Format, is the filename for the small animations that have taken over the internet as the go-to filetype for cat memes, small video clips, trippy animations and more. Developed by Steve Wilhite in 1987 while working at CompuServe, a GIF is a bitmap image that supports a palette of 256 different colors and multiple frames.

Call for Art: School of Art and Visual Studies, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky
The School of Art and Visual Studies at the University of Kentucky is now accepting exhibition proposals for its newly renovated gallery.
Proposals can be submitted by artists and curators in any media, and both solo and group shows will be considered. Accepted proposals will be scheduled during the 2016-17 academic year, but files may be kept for future consideration. There is NO entry fee.
Postmark deadline: February 1, 2016.
Proposals will be accepted either through the mail with CD and hard copy of printed materials or via email (email should be no larger than 10m – ZIP file, Mac compatible, preferred).
